NVQ - Level 2

An NVQ requires you to successfully complete a number of units. For Health and Social Care Level 2, there are four mandatory units and two optional units.

Mandatory Units

• Communicate with and complete records for individuals
• Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals
• Develop your knowledge and practice
• Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and well-being of individuals

Optional Units

There are 43 optional units available, some examples are:

• Carry out and provide feedback on specific plan of care activities
• Support individuals to meet their domestic and personal needs
• Provide food and drink for individuals
• Help address the physical comfort needs of individuals
• Support individuals with their personal care needs
• Support individuals prior to, during and after clinical procedures
• Support individuals to undertake and monitor their own health
• Ensure your own actions support the equality, diversity and responsibilities of individuals
• Contribute to the effectiveness of teams
• Monitor, handle and maintain materials and equipment
• Maintain a safe and clean environment
• Receive and monitor visitors
